In Milan the traveling exhibition dedicated to Balloon Art with which the public must interact

The spaces of Superstudio in Milan will host the Pop Air traveling exhibition dedicated to Balloon and Inflatable Art. The public will interact with installations by eighteen international artists and art collectives.

In Milan, the spaces of Superstudio in via Tortona, 27 will host from December 23, 2022 until February 12, 2023, the traveling exhibition dedicated to Balloon and Inflatable Art. After the exhibitions in Rome and Paris, Balloon Museum presents in the Lombard capital, under the patronage of the City Council, the Pop Air exhibition, with a new playful setting in an environment of more than six thousand square meters, designed to create an emotional dialogue with the public. At the center of the event will be precisely theinteraction with the visitor, who will be confronted with the installations of eighteen international artists and art collectives.

Pop Air intends to reflect on new artistic expressions and techniques related to the world of interactive exhibitions through new and site-specific works selected by Balloon Museum’s curatorial team.Air is the element of investigation common to all the artists involved: from a constructive and tangible element, a true sculpture with an unexpected and monumental form, to a metaphysical and suspended atmosphere, with a nebulous and impalpable character. Each inflatable installation, through interaction with the user, will create new spaces of physical, digital and cultural socialization. Indeed, the visitor will be at the center of an experiential journey that will engage his or her senses. Zoomorphic-like subjects will enliven the exhibition path with bright hues and unconventional, out-of-scale forms. These include Airship Orchestra by Eness, a tribe of ironic and playful-looking figures: walking among these figures will provide an opportunity for a surprising sound experience in which light and music coexist.

Sculptor Max Streicher presents Silenus, a sleeping giant of monumental dimensions that shows the audience its vulnerability. Through inflatable technology he seems to breathe or shake slowly, as before awakening. Objects of everyday life and their interaction with space are investigated by Cyril Lancelin with Knot, a large knitted knot whose beginning or end is not perceived, and by Geraldo Zamproni with Volatile Structure, large red pillows that seem to hold up the surrounding structure in a perpetual tension between content and context. Investigating nature and observing the balance between chaos and stillness are the hallmarks of the art collective Hyperstudio, which presents Hypercosmo, and the duo Quiet Ensemble, which signs the multimedia performance and unveils A quiet storm. The installations drop into environments in which sea, sky and rain take on a new guise. A multiplied and psychedelic universe, enveloped in rarefied atmospheres, welcomes the visitor in Never ending stories by Motorefisico, where the perception of the surrounding place changes with the movement of the individual. The interaction between person and space takes shape with the site-specific intervention Giallo 368, by the Penique Productions collective, which takes over a large room and changes its perception: a light and colorful envelope wraps the room and becomes a living architecture, animated by air generated by fans, which creates a sense of disorientation in the viewer. Karina Smigla-Bobinski, inspired by neuroscience discoveries about the self-configuration of the brain, presents in the spaces of Superstudio the unprecedented Polyheadra, an interactive installation that triggers a direct dialogue with the public. invited to actively participate in the configuration of the work, the viewer can assemble inflatable tubes of different sizes in ever-changing ways and document the result through photographs and videos. Air becomes an architectural element with Tholos by Plastique Fantastique, a tribute to the temples of antiquity, revisited in an inflatable key. The installation, unveiled as a world premiere on the occasion of the exhibition, ironically reflects on geometry and forms by revealing unseen elements made of mirrored and transparent materials. Rub Kandy’s Ginjos, colorful and mysterious characters evoke anthropomorphic figures with their shapes. Unexpectedly designed and highly interactive environments welcome the visitor along Balloon Street, a journey among works with pop colors and ironic suggestions. The exhibition, nominated for BEA Best Event Awards, is organized with great attention toenvironmental impact. The commitment is translated into concrete actions supported by partner and supplier Gemar®ï¸, the first company in the balloon and party industry to adopt certified sustainability reporting according to GRI guidelines, which uses balloon supplies with 100% natural and biodegradable rubber latex. Balloon Museum - Pop Air is intended to be an invitation to socialization, irony and play; a tribute to the art of sculpting the air with unprecedented works that engage the public and with whom they place themselves in open dialogue.
