Maurice Marinot's glassware on display on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice

On view from March 25 to July 28, 2019 is the exhibition Maurice Marinot. Glass, 1911-1934, curated by Jean-Luc Olivié, of the Musée des art décoratifs, and Cristina Beltrami: this is the first international tribute to the great glass artisan Maurice Marinot (Troyes, 1882 - 1960).

With more than 200 works and numerous preparatory drawings, the exhibition highlights the French artist-glassmaker’s originality, from his early enamel achievements to glass blown and shaped in person with skill and inventive ability.

The exhibition Maurice Marinot. Glass, 1911-1934 allows the public to admire the work of a key figure in the history of modern and contemporary glass, still not fully known to the general public.

The exhibition is part of THE ROOMS OF GLASS, a cultural project and permanent exhibition space located on theIsland of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice and dedicated to the study and display of modern and contemporary forms of glass art. Two exhibitions are held each year: the first in the spring dedicated to the use of glass in the spheres of twentieth- and twenty-first-century art and design; the second during the fall dedicated to the talents who in the twentieth century designed and designed for the Venini glassworks.

The exhibitions are always free admission and each exhibition project is accompanied by guided tours, educational workshops and special meetings for the whole family.

Hours: daily (closed Tuesday) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Free admission.
