Modena, at Verolino Gallery a group show on the expressive possibilities of the tree form

The representation of the tree gives rise to different expressive possibilities: this is the theme at the center of "Brilliant Green," a contemporary art group show scheduled at the Antonio Verolino Gallery in Modena from March 11 to April 9, 2022.

From March 11 to April 9, 2022, Galleria Antonio Verolino in Modena is hosting Verde Brillante, or the interpretative possibilities of becoming form, a group exhibition curated by Leonardo Regano that brings together the work of nine artists-Zeno Bertozzi, Niccolò Cecchella, Andrea Chiesi, Giulia Dall’Olio, Paola De Pietri, Arthur Duff, Cesare Leonardi & Franca Stagi, Jacopo Valentini, and Paolo Ventura. Nine personalities different in age and expressive languages but united by the choice of the theme of the representation of the tree in their research.

The title of the exhibition, taken from the essay of the same name by botanist Stefano Mancuso, intends to ideally connect the complexity of the plant kingdom to the different potentialities of the artistic act, presenting an investigation based on the dialogue between sculpture, painting, drawing and photography.

The incipit of the exhibition and of the story about the different expressive possibilities of the tree form are eight silkscreen plates made by Cesare Leonardi (Modena, 1935 - Baggiovara, 2021), taken from L’Architettura degli Alberi, a volume written in collaboration with Franca Stagi (Modena, 1937 - 2008) and published in 1982. In his studies, Leonardi elaborates more than 500 1:100 scale plates of 212 different tree species, taken as models by the well-known Modenese architect to modulate his urban planning and design projects.

The exhibition opens Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free admission. For information see the Antonio Verolino Gallery website.
