Nicola Samorì's works on display in Pesaro

Nicola Samorì's exhibition at the Pescheria Visual Arts Center in Pesaro opens today through Oct. 1.

The Pescheria Visual Arts Center in Pesaro is hosting from today until October 1, 2017 the exhibition"Nicola Samorì. The candle to make light must consume itself."

The Romagna artist was inspired by a thought attributed to St. Charles Borromeo, whose life embodied the idea of luminous consummation, and offers a dialogue between his works and works from the collections of the Civic Museums of Palazzo Mosca.

Starting with a work that was found in a compromised condition among the rubble of the right wing of Palazzo Mosca, destroyed during World War II in 1944, the artist triggers a constant confusion between the action of time on the works of the civic collections, some of which come from storage, and the typical marks of his paintings and sculptures.

Samorì often in his oils on copper inspects the reverse of the painting through a stripping of the painted film; a similarity is therefore created between his works and those from the deposits awaiting restoration.

The exhibition is curated by Marcello Smarrelli and is promoted by theDepartment of Beauty of the City of Pesaro with Sistema Museo.
