On display in Turin, for the first time in Italy, Robert Capa's color photographs

The Sale Chiablese in Turin will host Robert Capa's color photographs for the first time in Italy, from September 26, 2020 to January 31, 2021.

From Sept. 26, 2020, to Jan. 31, 2021, the Sale Chiablese of the Royal Museums of Turin will host the exhibition Capa in color dedicated to Robert Capa (Budapest, 1913 - Thai Binh, 1954), the famous photojournalist who founded theMagnum Photos Agency in 1947 together with Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, David Seymour and William Vandiver.

For thefirst time in Italy, a collection of more than 150 color photographs by the great photographer will be presented to the public in the Piedmontese capital.

In fact, exhibitions dedicated to Capa generally display black and white images through which the great conflicts of the 20th century, which he witnessed from 1936 to 1954, are often recounted. Shots in which the suffering and cruelty of wars are tangible.

During the exhibition in the Sale Chiablese, visitors will be able to understand Robert Capa’s particular approach to new photographic means and his extraordinary ability to integrate the use of color in the reportages he made between 1941 and 1954, the year of his death.

Capa in color is the brainchild of Cynthia Young, curator of the collection at the International Center of Photography in New York.
