Masterpieces from the exhibition I Fasti di Elisabetta Farnese. Portrait of a Queen, running until April 7, 2024 at the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese in Piacenza, will be featured in two videos. This is the new project of Finestre sull’Arte, which, together with Jacopo Veneziani, art historian and popularizer, a well-known face of culture on television (first on Rai Tre, now on La7), will publish soon two focuses to tell the fairy tale story of Elisabeth Farnese, the last princess of Parma and Piacenza of the House of Farnese, and queen consort of Spain as the wife of Philip V of Spain, and the Fasti di Elisabeth, the cycle of canvases executed in the first half of the 18th century by court painter Ilario Mercanti known as lo Spolverini (Parma, 1657 - Piacenza, 1734). On the occasion of the exhibition, conceived and curated by Antonella Gigli and Antonio Iommelli, and organized by the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese in Piacenza with the support of the Municipality of Piacenza and in collaboration with the Electa publishing house, the Fasti of Caserta and Parma were in fact reunited for the first time in nearly three hundred years with those already in Piacenza since 1928.
Filming was completed in the past few hours. The videos will be released soon along with in-depth written reports to discover the figure of a singular woman like Elisabetta Farnese and the splendid Fasti cycle.
Below are some backstage photos. The videos are made by Danae Project and distributed by Finestre sull’Arte.
