Pistoia dedicates an exhibition to photographer George Tatge

Palazzo Fabroni in Pistoia dedicates an exhibition to contemporary photographer George Tatge.

Palazzo Fabroni, Museo del Novecento e del Contemporaneo in Pistoia, is hosting from November 30, 2019 to February 16, 2020 the exhibition George Tatge. The Color of Chance, curated by Carlo Sisi and produced by the City of Pistoia/Palazzo Fabroni with the contribution of the Region of Tuscany as part of the Toscanaincontemporanea2019 project.

George Tatge (Istanbul, 1951) has always worked in black and white, but this exhibition marks a turning point, as for the past seven years he has devoted himself exclusively to shooting in color. This has necessitated a new way of observing.

The exhibition therefore presents places of mysterious metaphysicality: overcrowded cities, but devoid of people, as if to emphasize existential loneliness. Streets and corners where that continuous conflict between artifice and nature prevails. Recurrent in the artist’s shots are walls, barriers, fences, and fences. His photography is intended to be pure metaphor, a poetic expression that goes beyond the visible. Tatge rarely has definite plans in his mind; he prefers to wander to let the world surprise him.

The exhibition will feature 74 images, divided into six different sections, which are developed on the second floor of Palazzo Fabroni, in dialogue with the architectural context of the building. A video will present Tatge’s shots dedicated to Pistoia.
