Quadrennial 2020 is online with a rich digital schedule

Quadrennial 2020 Outside continues online on the website, social media and Youtube with a rich digital schedule.

The Quadrennial 2020 Outside continues online, accessible from www.quadriennale2020.com, on social channels and on Youtube.

A digital palimpsest with fixed appointments and columns that will alternate throughout the week: podcasts, videos, guided tours, performances, music playlists, photo galleries, and in-depth features.

It starts on Mondays on the website, Youtube channel and social channels with Double Match: art stories from the Quadrennial between past and future. It is a project curated by storyteller Luca Scarlini that offers an engaging narrative of the Quadriennale d’arte 2020 FUORI, staging a dialogue between the 43 artists in the exhibition and other important figures from Italian art history and previous Quadrennials. Invited by curators Sarah Cosulich and Stefano Collicelli Cagol to “perform” within the exhibition the archive of the Quadriennale di Roma as an integral part of the exhibition project itself, Luca Scarlini proposes an innovative format. In the narratives of Partita doppia, the archive and library of the Quadriennale di Roma become an inexhaustible source of materials and inspiration for Scarlini, who, proceeding by research analogies, attunements or formal procedures, traverses ninety years of the country’s history, interweaving light and in-depth stories: from memories related to the twenty-year fascist period to the ladies of the art of Rome, from the expulsion of artists of Jewish origin from the 1939 Quadriennale to forays into the performing arts, sports and the world of nightlife, from the protests of the 1960s to the years of lead. The result is forty-one short films, each lasting three minutes, signed by the Roman filmmaker group Studio Cliche and directed by Gian Claudio Pallotta.

Tuesday on social channels continues with FUORItutto, short guided tours by the curators who, moving inside the exhibition rooms, tell about the imaginaries of the artists, the works and the installation choices of each room.

On Wednesday on social channels with FUORIfocus, a narrative of the exhibition that follows the visit itinerary traced by Sarah Cosulich and Stefano Collicelli Cagol, through photos of the installation and the works, taken by DSL Studio, associated with excerpts from each artist’s files, to allow a deepening of the individual works and the artists’ practice.

Thursday on social channels will feature FUORItesto, a reasoned journey through the pages of the book, published by Treccani, the exhibition catalog and anthology on contemporary Italian art. Starting with the images, excerpts will be selected from essays by the curators, Sarah Cosulich and Stefano Collicelli Cagol, assistant curators, Michele Bertolino and Matteo Binci, artist/architect Alessandro Bava, and writer and storyteller Luca Scarlini; by authors Giorgina Bertolino, Stefano Chiodi, Silvia Fanti and Daniele Gasparinetti, Camilla Hawthorne, Francesco Ventrella, and Riccardo Venturi, who offer new methodologies for contemporary art; and by Dafne Boggeri, Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, Michele D’Aurizio, Vincenzo Estremo, Lorenzo Pezzani, and Sofia Silva on the themes of the Q-Rated workshops aimed at young artists and curators and that engaged the exhibition curators in the 2018-2019 biennium.

On Friday on the website, Youtube channel and social channels, second weekly appointment with Double Match: art stories from the Quadrennial between past and future.

On Saturdays on social channels, second weekly appointment with FUORIfocus.

On Sunday on Spotify (on the Quadriennale channel) and replica on instagram, come the playlists, one for each artist in the exhibition, selected week by week by the curatorial team, to build a soundscape and further expand the imagery of the works on display. Also on Sundays on social channels, second appointment of the FUORItesto column.

Among the novelties, Intemporaneo and You Art, on the social channels, conceived and realized by Eni for the Quadriennale d’arte 2020: of Intemporaneo, a video project designed for a dedicated space of Palazzo delle Esposizioni, trailers will be proposed that will keep intact the feeling of a journey through history to discover the transformation of artistic languages. Of You Art, the documentary dedicated to the contest that challenged seven classes of 14- to 19-year-olds from four different countries (Italy, Cyprus, Ghana and the United Arab Emirates) on possible opposing theses with respect to topical issues related to contemporary art will be proposed in ways designed for social channels.

Not only performing art, every Wednesday on social channels, in collaboration with RAI Radio Live: sharing the contents of the broadcast that narrates the exhibition in 13 episodes, through interviews with the president of the Quadriennale di Roma Umberto Croppi, curators and artists.

Columns continue:

Shared Tale with Circolo Mario Mieli, on social channels (also shared on the Circolo’s profile), the story of a selection of works closest to the issues and reflections of the LGBTQI+ world, also in relation to current events.

Scattered notes, on social channels, unexpected and varied images that have a reference to a work, to an artist, to a theme of the Quadrennial Art Exhibition 2020.

Spoilers, on social channels, image-based account of the installation, a throwback, with Sarah Cosulich as the host explaining and narrating the long road that led to the opening of the exhibition.

PAPRIKA, on social channels, poems selected by Stefano Collicelli Cagol that expand the themes and embroider the atmosphere of the exhibition.
