Turin, Banksy's immersive exhibition at Porta Nuova station

Banksy's works are coming to the station: the exhibition 'The World of Banksy - The immersive experience' is being held at Torino Porta Nuova from February 25 to May 29, 2022.

Banksy ’s art also arrives in stations, with the aim of reaching all over Italy to bring his message through his works. So the Bristol-based artist conquers this time the Torino Porta Nuova station, which hosts from February 25 to May 29, 2022, at the Sala degli Stemmi, the exhibition The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience.

After the success of the exhibition at Milano Centrale station and Teatro Nuovo in Milan, which followed the editions in Paris, Barcelona, Prague, Brussels and Dubai, Banksy’s art makes a stop at Torino Porta Nuova, one of Italy’s main stations that welcomes visitors and travelers every day by offering new experiences.

The itinerary features more than 90 worksincluding 30 life-size murals created by young international street artists that tell the story of the world of the mysterious British artist, who is famous for ironically tackling political issues and social complaints. Next to the most iconic masterpieces Flower Thrower and Girl with Balloon that have made him famous worldwide, there is also a special video section that traces the history and social message of the murals created by Banksy in streets, walls and bridges around the world.

The works on display are intended to give the viewer a way to reflect on the system and society in which we live; they are a symbol of struggle and protest in a world where economic interests often prevail over what should be the good of communities. Banksy’s goal is to bring out through his art the problems that plague contemporary society and to raise awareness of the issues of consumerism, war, and power through the use of metaphorical, humorous, provocative, and immediately visual images.

“We are proud to have been the first to propose an exhibition inside a station like Milano Centrale and to have now brought it to Torino Porta Nuova, a location very much in line with the artist’s ideology and accessible to all. As you all know Banksy does not authorize exhibitions that are not organized by himself but at the same time he does not prevent them. The artist encourages anyone who wants to copy or borrow his work: Banksy’s message remains the same, it is simply conveyed in a different way,” says Manu De Ros, curator of The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience exhibition.

“Our commitment to the Torino Porta Nuova station continues. December saw the opening of the Terrazzo, the new food lounge, with art installations by Paratissima. Now The World of Banksy exhibition opens to the public,” says Alberto Baldan, CEO of Grandi Stazioni Retail. “In the splendid Hall of Coats of Arms, closed for years and unknown to most, the works of one of the world’s most appreciated contemporary artists find their place. We are confident that the station will offer an extra stimulus and a new opportunity for regeneration, knowledge and culture for the neighborhood and the entire City.”

The monographic exhibition The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience at Torino Porta Nuova thus brings the art of the British writer to one of the places that most represent Banksy’s street art and universal language. This initiative is also part of the rebirth project of the Torino Porta Nuova station, which, thanks also to its strategic location, has recently seen the birth of a gastronomic space where people can meet and be together, helping to improve and develop the urban fabric.
