On the occasion of Christmas in Siena 2019, the Tuscan city offers two exhibitions featuring nativity scenes and from around the world and landscapes by French artist Fabrice Moireau.

On the occasion of Christmas in Siena, the Tuscan city is organizing two exhibitions: one dedicated to nativity scenes from the world and the other to Fabrice Moireau.

The first , titled Nativities from around the World - Rappuoli-Bologni Collection, will be held at the Magazzini del Sale from December 14, 2019 to January 12, 2020 and will display a range of works depicting the Nativity: handcrafted works from around the world and unique works of art created by various Italian artists, from rounded Botero-style Nativities to 19th-century works to masterpieces of contemporary art. Compositions large and small, sculptures in terracotta, wood, iron, paper, Murano glass, recycled materials and in coconuts and banana leaves. Many of the works on display come from the Rappuoli-Bologni Collection, which can be seen year-round at the Museo Presepi dal Mondo in Sarteano. The exhibition is curated by Stefano Rappuoli.

From Dec. 20, 2019 to Jan. 6, 2020, the Olmastroni Gallery will instead dedicate an exhibition entirely to Basilicata, intending to celebrate the region and Matera. On display will be 130 works belonging to the large collection of 350 watercolors on Basilicata’s municipalities and its landscapes, created between late 2012 and early 2015 by French artist Fabrice Moireau (Blois, 1962). These have been selected by the Lucani a Siena Association and invite the public on a path, with free admission, that is cultural and educational.
