Venice, at Stanze del Vetro exhibition on Venini glassworks' activity in lighting

From Sept. 18, 2022 to Jan. 8, 2023, the Stanze del Vetro in Venice will host the exhibition 'Venini: Light 1921-1985,' which investigates sixty years of Venini's glassworks' work in lighting.

The Stanze del Vetro in Venice, on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, will host from September 18, 2022 to January 8, 2023 the exhibition Venini: Light 1921-1985, curated by Marino Barovier, which intends to delve into the activity of the Venini glassworks in the field of lighting, from the small to the large scale, tracing an excursus through its most significant interventions.

In fact, a relevant area of Murano glass production is represented by lighting for both domestic use and large public and private environments, from ministerial buildings to post offices, from theaters to hotels. In particular, the Venini glassworks has distinguished itself with significant results in this sector as well, thanks to its capacity for constant updating and its openness to the world of design, aspects that have made it a point of reference for the most important architects on both the national and international scene.

The exhibition thus presents a careful selection of objects designed by the various designers who collaborated with the furnace or by the technical department of the glassworks itself, illustrating how the theme of light was addressed in the various decades, in a chronological span from 1921 to 1985.
