The Basilica of San Salvatore in Brescia is hosting the instant exhibition Ports Possible from February 22, 2019 to raise awareness of welcoming and integration.

Inside the Basilica of San Salvatore in Brescia, theinstant exhibition Ports Possible will be held from February 22 to March 24, 2019. 6 Artists for Reception. From the San Patrignano Collection - Work in Progress, presented by the City of Brescia, Fondazione Brescia Musei and Fondazione San Patrignano.

The main objective of the exhibition is to raise awareness about the themes ofwelcome andintegration through a selection of contemporary works from the San Patrignano Foundation.

The works chosen by Clarice Pecori Girardi, curatorial coordinator of the San Patrignano collection, give voice to six great voices of contemporary art: seven installations by artists such as Vanessa Beecroft, Shilpa Gupta, Giovanni Iudice, Luca Pignatelli, Pietro Ruffo, and Velasco Vitali. Indeed, San Patrignano’s collection includes extremely significant works in this sense, representing themeeting of cultures, symbolizing the journey of migrants, the welcoming of the other from oneself, and respect for diversity.

The opening will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 6 p.m. at theSanta Giulia Auditorium. Present for the occasion will be Emilio Del Bono, Mayor of Brescia, Francesca Bazoli, President of Fondazione Brescia Musei, Clarice Pecori Giraldi, Curatorial Coordinator of the San Patrignano Collection. Graziano De Giorgio, psychologist and psychoanalyst, will give the lectio magistralis Migrations, art and psychoanalysis. From the nightmare of the barges to the dream of rebirth: the languages of art, in their various forms of expression, can suggest new paths for us to approach the secret language of our psyche and that of others, for the impervious paths on the border between chaos and emotions. The theme of migrationhas always been present in art as in myth, and artists have passed on to us the truths about forced migration.

Free admission.

Planned is a rich program of free activities (reservation required) specially designed for children, families and adults. The very first events will be held on the first weekend of opening at the Santa Giulia Museum:

BETWEEN ART AND LIFE. VOICES FROM THE WORLD.
Itinerary for adults

A proposal for an unprecedented visit: contemporary themes of great resonance such as welcome and integration are investigated in an informal and direct wayin a multi-voice narrative led by artistic-cultural mediators of different origins who, interweaving the history of the works with personal history, will build, through art, a bridge between cultures.

Sunday, Feb. 24, 2:30 p.m.
THE CLOUDS HAVE NO BORDERS
Family workshop.

Peoples are constantly moving, traveling, migrating, on foot or by means of transportation, by land or sea, but always and everywhere under one sky, great and equal companion. It is precisely the sky that will be the protagonist of the workshop, to be understood as a space for continuous and endless migrations without borders. There is in fact an element that moves freely everywhere and that every human being sees and knows: the clouds. A great people, an infinite flock that, full of lightness, accompanies the steps of every migrant.
