Casa FIAT, the new exhibition in the foyer of Pinacoteca Agnelli, opens to the public on Friday, July 12, 2024. Presented by Stellantis and curated by the Pinacoteca, Casa FIAT tells the story of FIAT by interweaving it with that of Lingotto, the legendary factory that continues to fuel its myth between modernity and innovation.

The museum tour of Casa FIAT unfolds through images, objects and documents, building an essential chronicle of FIAT. This path is designed to highlight the strong link with Italian society and retrace the epochal changes that the company was able to trigger.

The Casa FIAT exhibition route begins in 1899, the year FIAT was founded, and develops decade by decade. Each decade is introduced by a dedicated section highlighting key events, told through an itinerary that winds its way through documents, photos, audio and video materials. From the period of World War I, we move on to the birth of the Lingotto and the blossoming of the “after-work” universe, the first assembly lines and the relationship that FIAT cultivates with artists. From the years of the economic boom, it continues to the protests of the 1970s, then tackling the environmental and ecological transition issues of the 1990s, until reaching the new millennium and the birth of the Pinacoteca Agnelli. The exhibition concludes with a look toward the future, telling the story of the 500, the Mega Panda and practices for a more sustainable future, with a special focus on younger visitors.

The exhibition is designed in perfect harmony with the spaces of the Lingotto, a building that has marked the history of industrial production and contributed to the development of one of the most important global automotive brands. Designed in the 1920s by Giacomo Matté Trucco and renovated in the 1990s by Renzo Piano, the Lingotto is a landmark of Turin’s architectural heritage and a valuable example of industrial archaeology in Europe.

The Pinacoteca Agnelli thus incorporates this narrative enrichment within it in relation to the important architecture of its home. A futuristic factory, a site of revolutionary automobiles and design, a site of production and technological development, the Lingotto and FIAT are constant sources of inspiration for the artists who exhibit and have exhibited on the Pista 500 and in the museum’s exhibition spaces.
