The Dorsoduro Museum Mile, the partnership between four art and cultural institutions in the Dorsoduro sestiere in Venice, is about to turn 10 years old. Renewed agreement.

In Venice, the partnership between four art and culture institutions in the Dorsoduro Sestiere, which took the form of an agreement aimed at the mutual promotion of museum offerings and the implementation of tourist flows in that area of the Dorsoduro Sestiere in Venice, between the Accademia Bridge and Punta della Dogana, is about to turn ten years old. Gallerie dell’Accademia, Galleria di Palazzo Cini, Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Palazzo Grassi - Punta della Dogana Pinault Collection have now renewed their agreement to relaunch the Dorsoduro Museum Mile, as a tool to enhance the sestiere and lead visitors along a route of remarkable architectural, artistic and historical value and a site of contemporary cultural initiatives.

Reductions, joint projects, and social campaigns are just some of the activities that characterize the collaboration between the four cultural institutions, sharing the flow of information, devising joint communication actions, and confirming the entrance facilities in the four venues. In particular, the special discounts continue: those who purchase a paid ticket in one of the venues of the Dorsoduro Museum Mile or hold the Membership Card of one of the partners are entitled to a reduced ticket in the other institutions of the circuit. Discounted tickets available are €14 at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, €15 at Punta della Dogana (including Palazzo Grassi), €8 at the Palazzo Cini Gallery at San Vio, and €12 at the Gallerie dell’Accademia. “Ten minutes are needed to reach Punta della Dogana from the Gallerie dell’Accademia, you pass through Palazzo Cini and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, a path of just under a kilometer that we wanted to call, a bit courtly, the Dorsoduro Museum Mile,” said Giulio Manieri Elia, director of the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice. “Those who would like to spend one or more days in this enchanting corner of Venice have the chance to lose themselves in an unparalleled artistic journey that goes from Giorgione to Picasso, from Pontormo to Tadao Ando, from the roots of the Venetian School of painting to the most recent artistic research, we cross centuries of history and hundreds of works of art. Our institutions, once again, wanted to revive the partnership that has seen them work together for years to make visiting more comfortable, more convenient and increasingly rich in cultural offerings of the highest quality.”

“The Dorsoduro Museum Mile demonstrates, in a cultural ecosystem as dense and complex as Venice is, the value of alliances between institutions as diverse and all of the highest caliber as ours, an operation that is anything but taken for granted,” added Renata Codello, Secretary General of the Giorgio Cini Foundation. “It is an indication of movement in the economy of culture; it is a gesture that pushes one to cross a piece of the city with other eyes; it is a journey through time, the long one of History behind us and the one of the contemporary that opens up every day.”

“From the very beginning, the Dorsoduro Museum Mile has distinguished itself as a virtuous and unique project aimed at promoting synergy between city museum realities of excellent prestige. Nearly ten years after its inception, the initiative now confirms the stronger than ever partnership between four institutions that firmly believe in the importance of collaboration, dialogue and exchange in the cultural and artistic sphere, within a city as rich but also extremely articulate as Venice is,” thus commented Karole P. B. Vail, Director of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

Finally, Bruno Racine, Director and Managing Director of Palazzo Grassi - Punta della Dogana, concluded, “Dorsoduro Museum Mile reaches its tenth year confirming the importance of pursuing a shared vision between cultural institutions for the good of art and its audience. Walking the mile of art along the Dorsoduro sestiere and being able to admire masterpieces from the 18th century to the present day, exhibited in the four institutions, has an invaluable opening value, a precious treasure chest open to the world.”
