Italy's first museum with rooms is born in Bologna

ResArt, Italy's first "museum with rooms," was born in the center of Bologna on the upper floors of the Raccolta Lercaro museum.

ResArt Iàcomus - Residenza con museo diffuso- is born in the center of Bologna, above the premises of the Raccolta Lercaro Museum.

The works of the Raccolta Lercaro have come out of the rooms on the ground floor to the upper floors, to give life to Italy’s first "museum with rooms.

“The idea, born before the pandemic,” commented Msgr. Roberto Macciantelli President of the Lercaro Foundation, “was to offer an opportunity for affordable lodging to groups of pilgrims who reached Bologna for activities related to spirituality and culture. Then Covid changed the game: during the months of the red zone we left room for creativity and widened our gaze, giving birth to a project that is still in constant evolution. Today the goal is to combine art, hospitality and culture. A lover of art and friend of many artists, Lercaro welcomed students who found a family in his houses during their studies and a firm point of reference afterwards, surrounded by works of art to thus educate them in art and beauty.”

“Each floor, with its own rooms, is dedicated to a different Bolognese author,” added Andrea Babbi, president of Ospitalità Petroniana, a nonprofit social enterprise set up to manage spaces and properties for tourism purposes, “so today ResArt guests can appreciate the works of Alfredo Tartarini on the fourth floor, painter Norma Mascellani on the fifth and, on the sixth, artists Poggeschi, Guidi and others. Over time these arrangements will change, and we will give space to different artists and works also following the new exhibitions that will be set up at the Museo Raccolta Lercaro on the ground floor. One room,” he continues, “will be dedicated and always available to pilgrims who walk the many paths of faith that intersect Bologna, primarily the Via ’Mater Dei,’ which starts from Santa Maria della Vita along the longest Unesco portico in the World, reaches San Luca and continues along the hills of Bologna connecting nine Marian shrines, but also to the paths dedicated to St. Anthony and St. Dominic.”

“With ResArt,” Babbi explains, "a start-up social enterprise was born, which saw the light in the midst of a pandemic to give body and substance to new ideas, insights and needs of the city. At a time of great difficulty for businesses, with closures dominating the pages of the newspapers, I believe that a company being born can be hailed as a sign of hope and restart. Also going in this direction is the decision to select our staff from the lists of targeted job placement for the unemployed or from among those laid off from companies in difficulty, as well as the opportunity to reuse furniture from hotels that were closed during the pandemic."

Also available within ResArt are six conference and meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 150 to 20 seats and spaces for events and meetings, including outdoors on the large terrace, and the restaurant area.

Thanks to AECA and CEFAL, training institutions, theAccademia per l’Ospitalità Bolognese will also be born in Resart where young people and adults will be welcomed and trained in the professions of the sector: receptionists and floor waiters but also expert figures in event organization, conferences and social media marketing.
