Naples, Certosa and San Martino Museum tell their stories on YouTube

The Carthusian Monastery and the Museum of San Martino are joining the La cultura non si ferma campaign, promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism with the aim of aggregating and growing the range of cultural heritage that can be enjoyed from home, with two films on the Ministry’s YouTube channel with the hashtag #iorestoacasa. The first film, which you will find at this link, is dedicated to the Strozzi Table, one of the most important iconographic documents of the city of Naples; the second, which you will find here, is dedicated to Antonio Mancini ’s famous 19th-century painting entitled the Return from Piedigrotta. In both videos, the voices of the Museum’s educational services officers tell virtual visitors the history, anecdotes, curiosities, historical references, and artistic details of the two masterpieces housed in the Charterhouse. The purpose is to offer a journey into art despite the distance of the real work.

In this period when museums, archaeological parks, libraries, archives, theaters, and cinemas are closed due to the coronavirus emergency, the Mibact, through a choral commitment of all its institutions, thus shows not only what is usually accessible to the public, but also the behind-the-scenes of cultural heritage with the many professionals involved in education, conservation, preservation, and enhancement. Through the website and its social profiles facebook, instagram and twitter, the Ministry relaunches the many digital initiatives underway.

On the page Culture Doesn’t Stop, which is constantly being updated, there are already a number of initiatives from places of culture in the Campania region.
