Caravaggio's Sacrifice of Isaac returns to Uffizi after exhibitions: soon to be on the list of immovable works

Relocated to the Uffizi Galleries is Caravaggio's Sacrifice of Isaac. Eike Schmidt said the painting will soon be on the list of immovable works.

Relocated to the Uffizi Galleries is the celebrated Sacrifice of Isaac painted in 1603 by Caravaggio (Milan, 1571 - Porto Ercole, 1610): the work has infact returned to its home after being on loan for two exhibitions, the monographic exhibition on Caravaggio in Milan and the one onEternity and Time in Forlì. The goal now is to ensure that the Sacrifice of Isaac, one of the most important works from the artist’s Roman period, becomes immovable and is no longer on loan

The director of the Uffizi Galleries, Eike Schmidt, said, “In recent decades, Michelangelo Merisi’s work has become so prominent that it has become one of the identifying works of our museum. This is why procedures have been activated that will soon include the Sacrifice of Isaac in the list of immovable works.”
