Burt Bacharach, among the greatest composers and musicians of the 20th century, has passed away at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 94. During his long career as a pianist, music producer, and songwriter, he won prestigious awards: he won six Grammys and as many as three Oscars.
In a career that began in the 1950s, when he worked with Marlene Dietrich and collaborated in a deep partnership with lyricist Hal David, Bacharach has composed more than half a thousand songs for numerous artists.Their talents, however, really took off when Bacharach and David met Dionne Warwick in 1961: the pair wrote no fewer than thirty-nine of the singer’s hits. Bacharach continued to enjoy success for multiple generations of fans even through the resurgence of lounge music in the 1990s. More recently he had collaborated with stars such as Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello and Dr Dre, indicating how his music never went out of style.
His music was considered by his fans to be anything but easy because of his use of complex harmonies, rhythms, and melodies inspired by late 19th century symphony composers and jazz.
Some of her most famous songs that have become classics include Say A Little Prayer, performed by Aretha Franklin, What’s New Pussycat? by Tom Jones, The Look of Love by Dusty Springfield,Make It Easy on Yourself by The Walker Brothers. Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, in BJ Thomas’s rendition, entered the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and won a Grammy and an Oscar in 1969, while Bacharach’s music won the statuette for Best Original Score.
