The entrance fee to the Pantheon will increase by 2 euros. This is what has been established by the new Convention signed today at the Ministry of Culture between the MiC and the Diocese of Rome, which regulates the modalities of use of the Pantheon - Basilica of Santa Maria ad Martyresin Rome. Present at the signing were, among others, Minister Alessandro Giuli, Vicar General for the Diocese of Rome, Cardinal Baldassarre Reina, Archpriest Rector of the Chapter of Santa Maria ad Martyres, Archbishop Daniele Micheletti, and Department Head for Cultural Enhancement, Alfonsina Russo. Vicegerent of the Diocese of Rome, Renato Tarantelli Baccari, MiC Chief of Cabinet, Valentina Gemignani, Deputy Chief of Cabinet, Giorgio Carlo Brugnoni, and Director General for the Olivetti Plan, Stefano Lanna, participated.
The agreement defines an update of the cooperative relationship between the two institutions for the management and enhancement of the monument, respecting its dual function as a place of worship and cultural space. The main change concerns the cost of the full ticket, which goes from 5 to 7 euros, while admission remains free for citizens residing in Rome. The new fees will be applied starting July 1.
The price increase will be used to fund initiatives under the Olivetti Plan for Culture, particularly for community libraries located in inland areas and in the most fragile contexts. The resources will help improve access to culture, support artistic production and strengthen local cultural presidia, as well as incentivize social regeneration projects in marginal territories. This makes structural a support system already initiated by the Culture Decree, which in the first months of 2026 produced a significant increase in the Italian publishing sector, amounting to 11.3 million euros and 569 thousand copies more than the previous year.
The new Convention thus aims to consolidate a management model in which the enhancement of one of the most representative and visited monuments of the national heritage, with about 4.5 million visitors in 2025, translates into concrete support for the dissemination of culture and social development of the country.
The new amount relates exclusively to the full ticket: the reduced price of 2 euros for young people between 18 and 25 years old and all the free tickets currently provided remain unchanged.
