From Naples to the Cinque Terre, 740 million is coming for interventions on cultural heritage. The CIPE allocation

The Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning (CIPE) allocates 740 million euros for interventions on cultural heritage.

740 million euros are on the way for 59 new cultural heritage interventions. This is an allocation from CIPE, the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning, which has approved an investment plan to strengthen cultural offerings and enhance urban and tourism promotion systems: in fact, these are funds earmarked for the recovery of cultural heritage, but also for the strengthening of tourism offerings. This brings to 4.2 billion euros the value of current interventions (about 1,500) throughout the country.

Of the 740 million, 360 are earmarked for the urban redevelopment of the historic centers of Cosenza, Naples, Taranto and Palermo (90 million each), 32 for the Great Ostia Antica Project, 8 for the realization of the Polytechnic of the Sea in Ostia, 20 for the enhancement of the Domitian coastline, 10 for cultural heritage in the buffer zone of Pompeii, 7 for the consolidation and adaptation of the Via dell’Amore in the Cinque Terre, 4.4 for the restoration and enhancement of Palazzo Carignano in Turin, 4 for the restoration and enhancement of Villa Correr Dolfin and the historic park in Porcia (Pordenone), 1 for the redevelopment of Raphael’s House Museum in Urbino in view of the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death that will fall in 2020.

In addition, €135 million is earmarked to support audiovisual productions related to the enhancement of personalities and events that help promote Italy’s image in the world, and €55.7 million to strengthen the Strategic Tourism Plan through interventions to support sustainable tourism policies in Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice (funding for strategies to govern the growth of tourist flows), for the redevelopment of southern Italian destinations, to fund the Wi-Fi Italia project (the single authentication system for Italian public WiFi networks) and to fund the Montagna Italia project.

“The Mibact’s plan approved today by CIPE,” said Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Franceschini, “will support new interventions in that ’cantiere cultura Italia’ launched four years ago to make up for a culpable delay in the fulfillment of Article 9 of the Constitution, which invests the Republic with the task of safeguarding the nation’s cultural and landscape heritage. From a fund of just under 40 million euros for the recovery of artistic, archaeological and monumental heritage, it has risen to more than 4 billion euros. A strong signal of how much has been invested in culture and tourism over the past 4 years.”
