Live restoration for Leda at Florence's National Archaeological Museum

Visitors will be able to follow live restoration work to a statue depicting Leda at the National Archaeological Museum in Florence.

Restoration of a statue depicting Ledais underway at the National Archaeological Museum in Florence.
It is a life-size
Roman marble copy, dating from the second century AD, of an original sculpture from the Hellenistic age.

All visitors will be able to view the statue’s restoration work live, as it will be held along the Florentine museum’s normal exhibition route.

The planned duration of the restoration is about two months and is supervised by Daniela Manna and Simona Rindi under the direction of Mario Iozzo, the general coordination of Stefano Casciu, and the technical supervision of museum restorers Fabrizio Gennai and Stefano Sarri. The Friends of Florence association is to be thanked for financial support.

With these interventions, several questions will be clarified, such as whether the head is relevant or is a 16th-century addition.
