Theft at the Faenza Art Gallery

In recent days a 13th-century painting depicting the Crucifixion and Descent into Limbo was stolen from the Pinacoteca di Faenza.

A theft occurred at the Faenza Art Gallery in recent days: a painting depicting the Crucifixion and Descent into Limbo dating back to the 13th century was stolen.

The small work was discovered missing last Monday by those in charge of normal controls, who realized the empty frame without the painting inside.

The Faenza Carabinieri unit, after a complaint from the Pinacoteca director, took the frame to detect any clues, and then later sent it to the Ris in Parma, where it will be subjected to scientific investigation.

Unfortunately, the Pinacoteca lacks video surveillance, so the help of cameras cannot be counted on to find out what really happened.
