Great Art at the Movies, Nexo Digital ’s successful initiative that has crossed the two million mark in Italian cinemas, continues into the second half of 2019.

It will start again on September 16, 17, and 18, 2019, with Van Gogh and Japan, a David Bickerstaff-directed journey through the beauty of Provence and Japan and between the rooms of the exhibition held in 2018 at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The docu-film will allow viewers to discover, through the artist’s letters and the testimonies of his contemporaries, Van Gogh’s deep connection with Japan. In addition to investigating japonisme, the film intends to fully understand the spirit of Japanese art through the art of calligrapher Tomoko Kawao and performance artist Tatsumi Orimoto.

On October 21, 22, and 23, 2019, Ermitage will be screened in theaters. The Power of Art, a docu-film directed Michele Mally on a subject by Didi Gnocchi produced by 3D Produzioni and Nexo Digital in collaboration with Ermitage Italia and Villaggio Globale International and with the support of Intesa Sanpaolo.
Thanks to close collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the film will tell the story of the famous museum: from the founding of Peter I to the splendor of Catherine the Great, from Alexander I’s triumph against Napoleon, to the Revolution of ’17, to the present day. A journey through the museum’s works (more than 3 million) through which all of Europe’s great art can be traced.

On November 25, 26 and 27, 2019 will come Frida. Viva la vida produced by Ballandi Arts and Nexo Digital. A documentary film that will analyze the two souls of Frida Kahlo: on the one hand the icon, tormented by physical pain, and on the other the artist free from the constraints of a tortured body. Directed by Giovanni Troilo, the film will tell the story of Mexico through letters, diaries and private confessions: exclusive interviews, period documents, and evocative reconstructions.

In 2019, Great Art in Cinema is distributed exclusively in Italy by Nexo Digital with media partners Radio Capital, Sky Arte and MYmovies.it.
