Labor, Minister Bonisoli deems it necessary to hire 6,000 in MiBAC. Here is what he said

An extraordinary plan to hire 6,000 people: this is what Minister Alberto Bonisoli considers necessary for MiBAC.

An extraordinary 6,000-hire plan to address staffing shortages in the Ministry of Cultural Heritage is what Minister Alberto Bonisoli says would be needed for the department he heads. He said this yesterday at question time in the Chamber of Deputies.

“The issue,” the minister said, “is of primary importance to me.” Here is the text of his full statement on recruitment: “It is my intention to proceed in this regard on the basis of the reconnaissance of the state of the art of the personnel situation in my ministry, which has already been initiated. As is well known, pursuant to Law 208 of 2015 and related dcpm, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage has been authorized to hire a number of winners and successful candidates of the competition already held for the recruitment of 500 technical officers, up to the amount of 1,000. The relevant Directorate General and Organization has informed me that to date about 600 units have been hired and are therefore already operational in the central and peripheral structures of the ministry, and procedures are underway for the scrolling of the rankings for an additional 300 units. Given that our general merit rankings cover a total number of placed candidates that amounts to 1,163, once we have hired the 1,000 positions that we have already authorized, there will remain 163 people who have been judged eligible, and we are evaluating the feasibility of regulatory intervention aimed at hiring these people. We have also been authorized as of now to launch a selection process for the recruitment of 16 administrative officers through the scrolling of the ranking list related to the 120 Ripam Cohesion competition from the 2017 recruitment budget, as well as 500 area 2 staff, 5 architect managers and 4 archaeology managers. The issue, however, is a little bit broader: this is what is already happening. At the general level from an initial review of the data provided I understand, however, that there is a current shortage, compared to the staffing level provided for in dcpm 171/2014, which net, i.e., already unbundled the Directorate General for Tourism, is about 3,000, which means that there are 3,000 fewer people in the ministry than there should be. In addition, the estimated figure of terminations for each year due to retirement (i.e., they retire) in the three-year period 2018-2020 is about 1,000 staff per year. In light of these figures, an extraordinary recruitment plan of about 6,000 is deemed necessary, particularly in the administrative profile. I reserve the right to keep you updated on this issue, which as you already know is particularly close to my heart.”
