Giro d'Italia, Autostrade unveils key cycling stages in Tuscany

On the occasion of the Giro d'Italia, thanks to the "Wonders" project sponsored by Autostrade per l'Italia, it is possible to ride geolocated bicycle routes, pedaling among the routes of Tuscany.

For the 13th consecutive year, Autostrade per l’Italia is an official sponsor of the Giro d’Italia to promote the beauty of our country. The project "W onders. Discover the Italy of Wonders" is Aspi’s multichannel platform that accompanies the traveler in the discovery of itineraries of our country, supporting him/her in the different moments of the journey, thanks to the map on the portal in which more than 500 travel experiences identified with the contribution of Unesco, Touring Club Italiano, WWF and Slow Food Italia are geolocated. Autostrade per l’Italia has chosen to highlight this year the i cultural routes in Tuscany, near the Tour stages of Genoa-Lucca (May 8) and Viareggio-Rapolano (May 9).

Cycling enthusiasts can take in Lucca, the city that saw the birth of Giacomo Puccini and now houses the museum dedicated to him, perhaps via the Serchio bike path. No less important for the musician were then nearby Torre del Lago and Lake Massaciuccoli, places of refuge for Puccini. And then, Casole d’Elba: it is not only the alleys, squares and medieval palaces that make it one of Tuscany’s many jewels. The village offers medieval palaces, a 14th-century fortress, a collegiate church of Romanesque origin, and a museum that interweaves archaeological and historical-artistic heritage. Wandering through the alleyways of the center, one discovers decorated majolica tiles set in the ancient stones of the houses, murals and sculptures artfully placed pandering to an idea of a diffuse museum. Thanks to an integrated hospitality project for cyclists, the feeling is that of being led by the hand to discover a treasure chest of natural wonders.
