The Emilia-Romagna Regional Government has allocated 4 million euros for the restoration of the Garisenda Tower, one of the best-known and most recognizable symbols of the city of Bologna. The approval of the resolution, which took place yesterday, allocates an all-inclusive economic contribution to the Municipality of Bologna to be used for the intervention on the tower. At the same time, the outline of an agreement between the Region and the Municipality was also approved, which will regulate institutional collaboration on the project and will be valid until June 30, 2029.

In the heart of the historic center, the Tower, together with its ’twin’ Asinelli, has always represented an iconic image inextricably linked to the city and its inhabitants: the Two Towers known throughout the world. We have been at the side of the City of Bologna since the start of the process of defining the complex intervention on the Garisenda. Contributing in such a decisive way to its restoration, besides being a source of pride, is also a clear example of the Council’s attention to the Cities of Art of Emilia-Romagna, the architectural elements that define their profiles, their history and close connection with the communities that live and work there.
