Marinella Senatore creates for MACCA in Peccioli her first permanent, public architecture

A new work by Marinella Senatore will be inaugurated today at MACCA in Peccioli. It is a novelty in the artist's production because it is the first time she has created a workable, public and permanent architecture.

MACCA in Peccioli, the open-air Museum of Contemporary Art spread over the territory, is enriched today by a new work: in fact, We Rise by Lifting Others by Marinella Senatore (Cava de’ Tirreni, 1977), specially conceived for Peccioli, will be inaugurated. The work, owned by Belvedere Spa, constitutes a novelty in the artist’s production, as it is the first time that Marinella Senatore has created aviable, public and permanent architecture. For the first time, it was the landscape and rural architectural tradition in which the work will be placed that inspired its conception and creation.

The work is intentionally placed in the peri-urban part of Peccioli going to constitute an ideal boundary between the inhabited space and the rural area of Serre. We Rise by Lifting Others, while inserted in a green space, represents the ideal continuation of the recovery project that began with the Fonte Mazzola Amphitheater, the Municipal Library and continued with the illuminated cycle-pedestrian path and the restoration of the Righetto well. The work opens a dialogue with the surrounding landscape through its spaces and surfaces.

We Rise by Lifting Others by Marinella Senatore intends to activate emotional effects. This new architecture wants to activate relationships between us and the building, between us and the people we meet there or with whom we we weave relationships. The conceptual foundations, on which Senatore’s research has been structured and elevated for twenty years now, consist of a building that does not separate the inside from the outside and vice versa, and an activation of ’free participation’ between people through the work.

“We are happy that this novelty in its artistic journey has been able to find expression in Peccioli thus going to contribute and enrich the long tradition that has brought, and is bringing, art to the community here,” commented Peccioli Mayor Renzo Macelloni.

The unveiling of the work, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 30, is part of the Cose d’autunno initiative, a two-day event of art, information and current events curated by the Peccioliper Foundation.
