Street art, a new urban storytelling in Rome dedicated to memory involving 14 artists

A new memorial created by fourteen artists that tells Rome and its history in color. A new urban regeneration project.

650 square meters of urban storytelling involving fourteen artists: from May 5, 2021, Rome will have a new memorial, able to bring together old and new generations, telling the story of the city through the language of street art.

This is the new project created by Dominio Pubblico and curated by Paolo Colasanti in art Gojo, MA®T - Millennials A®T Work - annuity 2020: the artists have repainted and rethought the walls of the Istituto Comprensivo Poggiali-Spizzichino, within Municipio VIII, telling the city and its memories in color. The activities were carried out with in collaboration with Retake Roma.

Themes addressed in these urban artworks are Rome, Territory and Storytelling through the flowers of Memory: works created according to different styles and approaches by Alessandra Carloni, Alice Pasquini / UNO, Claudio, Collective 900, Dez.Midez, Jerico, Krayon, Lola Poleggi, Lus57, Marta Quercioli, Olives, Orgh, Zara Kiafar and Gojo. An opportunity for urban redevelopment and regeneration to draw on the walls a chapter of shared history, making different generations dialogue with each other.

MA®T - Millennials A®T Work intends to present a new vision of social and city fabric, choosing the Montagnola neighborhood as the location. A way to propose new city paths, entrusting them to artists, some already established of national and international fame, others emerging and linked to the area.

Each artist worked on a flower and proposed his or her vision of the city through an image that becomes a universal symbol, with a particular look at the women of memory, dreamers and revolutionaries.

The project is promoted by Roma Culture and is a winner of the Public Notice Contemporaneamente Roma 2020-2021-2022 curated by the Cultural Activities Department.
