Liu Bolin is in Florence for a secret project he will present next year. Among the locations, Uffizi and Pitti Palace

Chinese artist Liu Bolin, famous for his performances where he manages to blend into his surroundings, is these days in Florence for his new project that will be presented to the public next year.

The chameleon of contemporary art, Liu Bolin (born in 1973, originally from Shandong), world-famous for his artistic performances where, remaining motionless like a living sculpture, he integrates his body with his surroundings through total body painting and then gets photographed, and merging with the background he is practically invisible, lands in Florence for a new secret project. Among the places chosen for her performances are the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace.

These very days, in fact, the Chinese artist and his team are busy between the Uffizi Gallery and the Pitti Palace, which will be the first locations of Bolin’s performance/exhibition program. The presentation of the project to the international public is scheduled for next year: the artist will donate some works to the Uffizi Galleries.

Trained at the Central Academy of Applied Art in Beijing, Liu Bolin grew up and shaped his art during a period of great economic development for China, as evidenced in Hiding in the City, a photographic series that marked his entry into the international art scene. His works have recently been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Mudec in Milan, the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, the Complesso del Vittoriano in Rome, the United Nations headquarters in New York and the Fotografiska Museet in Stockholm. Represented in Italy by the Verona-based Gaburro gallery, today Liu Bolin lives and works in Beijing.
