Belli Art House, a new independent and nonprofit center dedicated tocontemporary art, was inaugurated in Querceta (Lucca) inside the villa that belonged to Silvio Belli, a prominent figure in the Versilia cultural scene between the 1960s and 1980s.
The project is the result of a collaboration between Belli’s heirs and the Alkedo APS association and aims to be a place of encounter and experimentation, with programming that weaves together exhibitions, artistic residencies, events and meetings in dialogue with the territory. Among the main initiatives is the Habitat residency program, designed as a space for production, research and direct exchange between artists, inhabitants and visitors.
The objective of the new reality is to reactivate Silvio Belli’s cultural and social legacy with an eye toward the present, also enhancing the Belli Collection, consisting of about 300 works of modern and contemporary art, currently being catalogued by Chiara Domenici in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara.
The inaugural exhibition (Aug. 24-Oct. 26, 2025), At the Limit, connects the pictorial languages of Matteo Nuti and Marco Salvetti. The theme of the limit is understood not as a barrier but as a threshold, tension and possibility of crossing. Nuti considers painting a device, an open field in which the edge of the canvas becomes decision-making space: the sign is thus transformed from precariousness to tangible presence. Salvetti, on the other hand, confronts the material in its resistance, making dense, layered surfaces on the border between painting and sculpture, in which the memory of the process remains imprinted in the material itself. From their encounter comes a subtle balance, in which what seems to dissolve acquires stability and what appears solid reveals a potential for transformation.
Belli Art House can be visited by appointment. The Habitat residency program will kick off in the coming months, while annual programming will be curated by Lorenzo Belli, Giorgia Munaron and Domitilla Rossi.
