More than 100 Italian house museums will open their doors for the second edition of the National Days of the Houses of Famous People, promoted throughout Italy on the weekend ofApril 1 and 2, 2023, by theNational Association of Houses of Memory.

The goal of the association, which networks 98 house museums in fourteen Italian regions, is to celebrate these places and enhance the memory of the past in the round. That is why the invitation was extended to all the homes of famous Italian personalities, not just those that are part of the Houses of Memory.

“We are happy to note that we had a considerable number of adhesions from Italian house museums, about 20 more than last year,” comments Adriano Rigoli, president of the National Association of Houses of Memory. “Our goal has always been to be a megaphone for these unique realities that we are privileged to represent. Hence the decision to extend the invitation also to house museums that are not part of our network, to help make known by all means the vast heritage represented by the house museums.”

This year, as a symbolic closure to the centenary year of Ugo Tognazzi ’s birth (1922-1990), the initiative has as its exceptional ambassador Gianmarco Tognazzi, who coordinates the House of Memory dedicated to the great actor, Casa Vecchia in Velletri. In addition, the initiative has received the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, as well as ICOM Italy.

“This year our initiative can boast not only the patronage of ICOM but also that of the Ministry of Culture, and this can only fill us with pride,” says Marco Capaccioli, vice president of the National Association of Houses of Memory. “Moreover, we are really very pleased that Gianmarco Tognazzi, whom I thank, is a testimonial for the initiative. These two days of doors are meant to be an invitation to experience the house museums, to visit them and be enveloped by the atmosphere in each of them.”

From March 20 to 30, 2023, it is possible to register by logging on to www.casedellamemoria.it, where there is an updated list of participating houses accompanied by directions for making reservations. There are 115 houses participating in the project.
