500 works tell the story of comics in Catania

Catania hosts Boom!!!, the exhibition that tells the story of comics, from American comics to Neopop.

Palazzo Valle in Catania will host from October 1, 2019 to March 1, 2020 the exhibition Boom!!! From American Comics to Neopop. The exhibition aims to recount the transformation of characters in the world of comics and trace the history of American comics from the Golden Age to the first decade of the new millennium.

On display are more than 500 pieces divided into nine main nuclei that include stories, characters, cartoonists from the history of comics, memorabilia used in cinema and examples of European and Japanese comics.

There are three thematic exhibition areas with originals of Sunday boards, daily strips and comic-book pages, comic pages from period newspapers, comic books and posters from American, British, French and Italian films, movie set memorabilia, cartoon and film projections, video games, multimedia and interactive technology, and about forty unique works by the greatest great creators of contemporary art who have used comics in their language, such as Lichtenstein, Warhol, Murakami, and many other contemporary Neopoporaeo and street art artists.

The exhibition is curated by Maurizio Scudiero, Giuseppe Stagnitta and Giancarlo Carpi in collaboration with Marco Grasso and is a Sicilia Musei, Italia Museo and Emergence project that is part of the Etna Comics programming.
