An exhibition in Vinci allows visitors to explore five of Leonardo's drawings in digital version

The Leonardo Museum in Vinci, in collaboration with theUniversity of Bologna, opens the exhibition Leonardo, Anatomy of Drawings, which will run until Aug. 23.

The exhibition allows the exploration of 5 of Leonardo ’s most important drawings reproduced in a digital version, giving visitors the opportunity to relate to the work as if they had the drawing in their hands, thanks to the ISLe (InSight Leonardo) application, developed by the Department of Architecture of the University of Bologna, which creates a physical space in which the visitor is guided to discover Leonardo’s work. Leonardo’s drawings are thus described, investigated and revealed in many details that can be appreciated much more than can be done with the naked eye.

II digital device makes it possible to identify, in a comparison with the facsimile, elements that have to do with the creative process, tools and methods of representation used by the master. Aspects specific to the material object are also appreciable, i.e., the undulations and movements of the paper, and even critical conservation features of the sheet such as, for example, corrosion due to the acidity of the inks.

Thanks to the touchchscreen tables, it is possible to immerse oneself in the famous Landscape drawing of 1473, admire the extreme precision and firmness of Leonardo’s hand demonstrated in the preparatory drawing of theAdoration of the Magi and in the very famous Vitruvian Man, and immerse oneself in the vision Leonardo was developing on the art of war represented through the drawings of the Square-plan Fortress and the Mortars Throwing Explosive Balls.

Enriching the exhibition are several editions of Leonardo’s coeval works from the Biblioteca Leonardiana that account for the historical and cultural context in which the drawings originated.
