Brescia, at the Museum of Santa Giulia the illustrations of Jacovitti, Munari and many others for Editrice La Scuola

In conjunction with the second edition of the International Festival of Education, the Santa Giulia Museum in Brescia is presenting for the first time a selection of the illustrative holdings from the historical sketchbook archive of Editrice La Scuola.

From October 2, 2025 to February 15, 2026, the Santa Giulia Museum in Brescia will host the exhibition Mondi, viaggi, storie... e poi c’è Jacovitti!, curated by Michela Valotti with the collaboration of Anna Piergentili, organized in conjunction with the second edition of the International Education Festival. For the first time, a selection of the precious illustrative heritage preserved in the historical archive of the sketches of Editrice La Scuola, a historic Brescian company active since 1904 in the field of school publishing and didactics, which has accompanied teachers and students of all levels for more than a century, will be presented to the public.

Promoted by Fondazione Brescia Musei and Editrice La Scuola, the exhibition brings together more than 70 plates to offer a glimpse of the visual universe intended for the younger generations in Italy, from the postwar and economic boom years to the present day.

The exhibition is divided into four thematic sections, bringing into dialogue the works of authors such as Benito Jacovitti, Bruno Munari, Ugo Fontana, Francesco Carlo Salodini, Marina Battigelli, Gianmaria Ciferri, Gianbattista Bertelli, Piero Cozzaglio, Nevio Zeccara, Gianni De Luca and Pio Pullini.

In terms of breadth and variety, the exhibition takes the form of a journey through Italian creativity: a sort of identity card of national illustrative talent. Completing the exhibition will be a catalog, published by Editrice La Scuola.
