Carlo Zauli Museum, from the mud of the flood the unprecedented installation that sees the earth as the bearer of new life

From Nov. 27 to Dec. 5, 2023, the headquarters of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region will welcome the unprecedented installation that starts from the mud of the flood to create new works because "the destiny of the earth itself is to be always and in any case the bearer of new life."

Opening Monday, Nov. 27, at the headquarters of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Bologna, the exhibition project Mudfulness. Terre a Dimora, curated by Giulia Ferraresi and Matteo Zauli. The exhibition, which can be visited until Dec. 5, 2023, presents the installation with works by Michele Guido and Carlo Zauli, and photographs by Cristina Bagnara.

The residency project, realized thanks to the Emilia Romagna Region’s call for proposals, L.R. N. 2/2022 - VALORIZATION OF HOMES AND STUDIES OF THE ILLUSTRIES OF EMILIA-ROMAGNA, is set within the dramatic events that struckEmilia-Romagna in the May 16 flood and led, as Matteo Zauli explains, to “anunprecedented installation that moves on different planes of narration, on documentary and sculptural contexts, to build a space of thought that sees the natural disaster as part of a process aimed at a positive polarity, as if not wanting to betray the destiny of the earth itself, always and in any case, even beyond any catastrophe, bearer of new life.”

Manifatture Sottosasso and Modelleria Digitale collaborated on the ceramic project, while students participating in the MCZ curatorial course (Alice Arabia, Isabella Catino, Giada Miino, Giulia Petronio, Carolina Scalas), IFTS course students (Chiara Casalone, Katiuscia Urbinati) and ISIA Faenza students (Federica Cinquepalmi) followed the Residency project with Michele Guido.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog with texts by Emma Petitti, President of the Emilia-Romagna Regional Legislative Assembly; Mauro Felicori, Councillor for Culture and Landscape, Emilia-Romagna Region; Manuela Rontini, Emilia-Romagna Regional Councilwoman and Chair of the “Economic Policies” Commission; Matteo Zauli, Director of the Carlo Zauli Museum; and Alice Arabia and Giada Miino of the MCZ curatorial course.

The exhibition has free admission and can be visited Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Saturdays and holidays.
