The 'Collecting on the Course' exhibition at the Goethe House in Rome will kick off on Oct. 31: a selection of works chosen from the Roman institute's collection.

The Goethe House in Rome will present some works from its collection on the occasion of the“Collecting on the Course” exhibition , number 71 hosted at the Roman institution.

From Oct. 31, 2017, to Jan. 14, 2018, the place whereJohann Wolfgang von Goethe (Frankfurt am Main, 1749 - Weimar, 1832)lived , now a museum dedicated to him, will exhibit works related to the great German writer, such as the several albums of drawings never before shown to the public, including the notebook of Friedrich Bury, Goethe’s roommate in Rome, and Friedrich Preller The Elder, an artist very close to the writer originally from Frankfurt am Main.

There will also be works by other artists who were friends of Goethe such as JakobPhilippHackert, Albert Christoph Dies, as well as Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein, the main tenant of the apartment at Corso 18.

The opening is set for the 231st anniversary of Goethe’s arrival in the Corso artists’ apartment.
