Fossano, an exhibition of reproductions of works by Leonardo da Vinci opens, curated by Antonio Paolucci

Three venues in Fossano will host the exhibition 'Leonardo Opera Omnia' from Sept. 21, 2018 to Jan. 13, 2019, displaying reproductions of Leonardo da Vinci's works.

From Sept. 21, 2018, until Jan. 13, 2019, in Fossano, the Acaja Castle, the Diocesan Museum and the Church of the Holy Trinity will host the exhibition Leonardo Opera Omnia, curated by Antonio Paolucci, promoted and organized by Rai, Rai Com, the Municipality of Fossano, the Diocese of Fossano and ProgettoMondo Mlal, in collaboration with Fondazione Artea and the Piedmont Region.

“Leonardo Opera Omnia” aims to retrace the life and genius of a great master through reproductions of seventeen works representative of the painter’s artistic journey and created using sophisticated digital techniques. Masterpieces such as the , are presented in actual size and, thanks to skillful light adjustment, also attempt to recreate the lighting of their environments.

Fossano Mayor Davide Sordella says, “Leonardo. Opera Omnia is a step in a path of cultural events that aim to involve the whole city. It is not an exhibition for its own sake, but a project to involve the citizenship. We have asked Fossano associations to get involved by proposing initiatives related to the exhibition, and the adherence has exceeded expectations. The side events, school proposals, and concerts were by no means taken for granted, and I thank those who invested their time in these months and in the coming months to contribute to this project.”

“The overview of Leonardo’s work and life offered to the public who will visit the exhibition in Fossano constitutes an extraordinary opportunity for knowledge,” comments Roberto Nepote, President of Rai Com, “as Leonardo’s creative and eclectic genius disrupted his era and profoundly influenced subsequent ones. A set-up with reproductions of the highest quality makes it possible to overcome problems due to geographical distances or the impossibility of relocating some works: exhibitions can be easily transported and presented in different forms and at low cost all over the world. This allows a very large audience of visitors to admire masterpieces that would otherwise only be available in reduced format and low quality on catalogs, the Internet or television documentaries.”

On the other hand, the Vicar General of Fossano Pierangelo Chiaramello declares, “Growing in knowledge, investigating through experience, trying to see inside things to understand how they work, this and much more is Leonardo. The exhibition ’Opera Omnia’ wants in some way to highlight the genius of one of the greatest men of our culture. In order to understand the world and things he turned his interest to every sphere, with nothing remaining outside his attention. A man of his time, without being properly a believer, he delivered us artistic masterpieces of religious subjects with traits of absolute originality and elegance. In all his work Leonardo brings a message of great humanity, provoking us even today not to remain on the surface, to probe the depths of the world, of man, of life, in order to grow in humanity and be open to tomorrow.”

Parallel to the Exhibition, numerous collateral events will be organized, involving the initiative’s partners, cultural and associative realities and schools in the area, capable of completing the experience of Leonardo’s figure with different inputs. The calendar is still being defined but, at the moment, these appointments are already planned that will allow for an immersive experience in the sign of Leonardo:
