The Palazzo Senza Tempo in Peccioli presents from May 13 to September 30, 2022 the exhibition "All Wars. Photographs 1998-2019" by Franco Pagetti, among the best-known war photojournalists.

Opening May 13, 2022 at the Palazzo Senza Tempo in Peccioli is the exhibition All Wars. Photographs 1998-2019 by Franco Pagetti, among the best-known international photojournalists. The exhibition will be open to the public until Sept. 30, 2022 and is part of the kermesse Thought Peccioli curated by Luca Sofri.

“The Russian invasion of Ukraine, its massacres and destruction, the people who are victims, are again told by the images of war photojournalists, even in these times of social networks, influencers and changes in the communication of everything,” said the curator. "They are images that on the one hand always look the same, for every war, and on the other hand renew their effect and their ability to show terrible and unbelievable things that we thought were far away: far away in time or far away in space. But wars have never stopped being fought and being used for greed, bullying, ignorance, and nothing like the images of photojournalists has tried to remind us of this even in years past, when war in Europe seemed unthinkable to us. The photos of Franco Pagetti, a photojournalist who has covered some of the longest and most serious recent wars, are among those that most persistently and professionally anticipated what we would return to see this year."

Franco Pagetti (Varese, 1950), approached photography in 1980: initially as an assistant to architectural photographer Carla De Benedetti but later began producing images for the fashion and commercial world. From the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, he collaborated with Italian magazines Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and Amica. While signing international advertising campaigns, in 1988 he made his first reportage on women tortured by the Chilean regime. In 1997, she decided to devote herself exclusively to photojournalism. At almost 50, he began his second life, which in 2007 saw him become a member of the well-known agency VII, in which he still participates. He covers the hottest conflict zones: in 1998 he was in South Sudan and Afghanistan, where he returned in 2001, 2009 and 2010; in 1999 he was in Kosovo and East Timor; in 2000 and 2001 he was in Kashmir; in 2000 he was in Sierra Leone; and in 2001 and 2002 he was in Palestine. His war photographs depict individuals in extreme conditions and bear witness to acts of incredible heroism as well as brutality. His reports are published in America in Newsweek,The New York Times,The New Yorker, Stern, Sunday Times, Vogue America and in Europe in Le Figaro, Paris Match, Le Monde, The Times of London, The Independent. For the weekly TIME, from January 2003 until December 2008 he is in Iraq where he arrives as early as three months before the U.S. invasion of Baghdad. His images from the front lines are some of the most comprehensive reporting from Iraq, capturing the horrors of war, looting, battles, and the formation of insurgent and terrorist groups.
