John Bock and his surreal universes on display at Fondazione Prada

The Next Quasi-Complex, an exhibition by German artist John Bock coming to the Fondazione Prada.

The Fondazione Prada ’s Podium spaces will host from July 18 to Sept. 24, 2018, the exhibition"The Next Quasi-Complex" by German artist John Bock (Gribbohm, 1965).

The ground floor of the Podium will become a surreal world, a theater of the absurd in which black humor, philosophy, economics, music, fashion and fragments of everyday life intersect.

Bock’s performances, which he calls “lectures,” are parodies of academic presentations in which he uses everyday objects, discarded materials, furniture and other elements combined to create absurd worlds.

There will be two large installations in the exhibition: the mobile stage of When I’m Looking into the Goat Cheese Baiser (2001) and the living room of Lütte mit Rucola (2006). The former is a mobile stage set used by the artist during one of his performances, i.e., an assemblage of stage furniture, while the latter is the set of the film in which Bock played the role of a homicidal madman who cuts up his still-living victim.

In addition to these two installations, other surreal constructions will be presented.
