Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio's bizarre creations in Merano

Kicking off tomorrow through Jan. 14, 2018, is an exhibition in Merano dedicated to the drawings and creations of Campania-based artist Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio.

Tomorrow, Oct. 8, the exhibition"Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio. In your mouth everything dies" curated by Christiane Rekade.

Until January 14, 2018, it will be possible to admire a series of unpublished drawings that will highlight the practice of drawing in the Campania artist’s way of working.
Large-format charcoal drawings depicting caricature portraits, unusual, real people, historical figures; bizarre representations that become tragicomic portraits of contemporaneity, but show aspects that usually do not appear in the images disseminated in the media.

Also on display will be portraits made with the sugar mixture that is used to make meringues: resulting in distorted pastel-colored faces.

Also visible will be the 2017 installation"Spartifila" created with pieces of wood, plastic buckets, and ropes: a control system similar to those found at airports or found at the entrance to museums and concerts.

“We live in the society bombarded by images, and if one takes away what he is from what he does, he realizes that reality is made of cold objects, ATM cards, supermarkets, shopping bags. One must then perform an act of sincerity and make these things enter one’s poetic world.”
