Works by Clara Woods, the little girl who talks to paintings, on display in Prato

'Rainbow,' an exhibition showcasing the work of Clara Woods, a 12-year-old girl who expresses herself through the pictures she paints, opens in Prato.

Clara Woods is a 12-year-old Florentine girl who, due to a stroke that struck her when she was still in her mother’s womb, is unfortunately unable to speak. So to express herself, Clara paints pictures that are about to be exhibited at the Pavoniere Golf & Country Club in Prato from Sept. 22 to Oct. 21.

The exhibition is called “Rainbow” and is promoted and organized by the Florence Radiotherapy Oncology Foundation. Bruno Gori, president of the Foundation, explains, “It is an event open to everyone because, just like sports, art and knowledge are available to anyone who wants to be a part of it. In fact, it is in the midst of people that our Foundation wants to be, to be able to put a special focus on the issue of cancer diseases and on raising awareness about them.”

Betina, Clara’s mother, says, “As a family, everything that is happening to Clara, especially since it is happening in such a short time, is crucial for her to have a life goal and discipline in dealing with and managing everyday life. Unfortunately, it is often difficult for children/youth like her to set goals that they can achieve, tasks that then translate into concrete results. Clara, on the other hand, is now able to express what she has inside, reach out to people’s sensibilities, make friends all over the world, and can afford to dream of a fulfilling future.”

Clara’s future right now holds other important appointments for her, two of them abroad: Kobe (in Japan) and Miami (in Florida). If you would like to learn more about Clara Woods, her official website can be found here.
