Maremma Museums rewards the... most frequent visitors. In fact, an initiative that the Maremma museum system is launching for 2024, the Culture Passport, goes in this direction. The Passport will be awarded to the most loyal visitors and will allow them to immediately get a free gift and participate in thedrawing of some prizes.
How does it work? It is a real paper passport that can requested for free in ten museums of the network, divided into three areas called “customs.” For the “north customs” these are the Archaeological Museum and the San Pietro all’Orto Museum in Massa Marittima and the Magma Museum in Follonica. In the “Central Customs,” the museums are the Muvet Isidoro Falchi Civic Archaeological Museum in Vetulonia, the Maremma Archaeological and Art Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Clarisse Cultural Center in Grosseto. Finally, in the “East Customs House,” the Arcidosso Museum Complex, the Mercury Mines Museum in Santa Fiora, and the Museum of Prehistory and Protohistory in Manciano. Each visitor can choose to visit only one museum per customs and have their passport stamped. Once the 3 stamps have been inserted (by March 31, 2024), the passport can be returned to the last museum visited, and this allows the visitor to immediately receive a free gift: a catalog, an admission, a guided tour, a gadget, and so on.
All returned passports will then participate in a drawing, scheduled for April 11, to win free tickets to the Grosseto Theater Season and the Fonderia Leopolda Theater Season in Follonica, and free admissions to Lirica in Piazza in Massa Marittima and Cinema di Mare in Castiglione della Pescaia. Also up for grabs will be a nominal subscription to exhibitions in the Polo Clarisse in Grosseto and a membership card from Fondazione Grosseto Cultura.
The Maremma museums are also reintroducing free Sundays for the first three Sundays in January, February and March, a novelty first pioneered in 2022. The year that opens in fact marks the first 20 years of activity of the Maremma Museums System, which in the Province of Grosseto brings together 48 museums, exhibition centers, art gardens and archaeological areas and celebrates 20 years of activity this year.
As for the second edition of “Sundays in Maremma Museums,” it starts on Sunday, January 7, thanks also to a contribution from the Tuscany Region. There are 25 museums and places of culture in the network that have joined the project distributed throughout the territory (Metalliferous Hills, Grosseto area, Amiata and Albegna and Tuff Hills), and they will open their doors for free to visitors. It will thus be possible to discover the often little-known treasures of the Maremma: from Etruscan and Roman archaeology to masterpieces of medieval and modern art to industrial mining archaeology and knowledge of the precious natural ecosystem. In addition, numerous events, also free of charge, have been organized for the occasion: from walks to guided tours, exhibitions, workshops for children and families and much more. The full program can be found at: www.museidimaremma.it and on the Facebook and Instagram pages of Maremma Museums with the hashtag: #domenicamuseimaremma.
