Taranto Archaeological Museum goes 3.0 and launches its new digital platform in eight languages

MArTA - National Archaeological Museum of Taranto launches its new digital platform in eight languages. The digital offering will complement the physical visit.

On the occasion of International Museum Day, MArTA - National Archaeological Museum of Taranto presents its new digital platform in eight languages on Monday, May 18 at 6 p.m., live on Facebook.

“We deliberately chose to call it a platform,” clarifies Gaetano Contento, CEO of Never Before Italia, the company that with Meeting Planner won the public tender for the renewal and enhancement project The MArTA Museum 3.0, “because for us it is a living body, the epicenter of a valuable interaction between the museum and its current and prospective public. A meeting point between supply and demand for culture, services and valuable content in a digital marketplace made of bits within which to generate an information economy and make a contribution in the path of collective growth. This is why we focused on a product that would be interactive, omnichannel, inclusive, ubiquitous, allowing MArTA to take its exhibits outside of a physical space only.”

Presenting the digital platform live will be director Eva Degl’Innocenti: This new situation calls for renewed tools of fruition for museums as well. One of the most important archaeological museums in the world because of the history of its collections and the richness of the cultural heritage of its territory is therefore equipping itself with a new digital tool, enriching and renewing its offerings to prepare for its reopening.

“Today opens a new phase for the MArTA museum. The scenario in which we will return to interact will see the museum strongly oriented to consider the person-user at the center of all fruition processes,” said the director. “Through a new digital strategy we will continue to create high-value content, focusing on the emotional involvement and active and social participation of the visitor, allowing them to start the experience before arriving at the museum and to continue afterwards. The digital offering is complementary to the physical visit.”

During the presentation, the features of the platform will be explained by introducing the theme of how to reinvent the future in the world of culture, museums and art through new frontiers by which museums can engage the public.

Participants in the event will include the director of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples - MANN Paolo Giulierini, who will talk about the importance of digital archives and their relationship with fruition, actor Michele Riondino, Alberto Mattiello, Head of Future Thinking at Wunderman Thompson Miami, one of the world’s best-known speakers in the field of innovation, and Gaetano Contento, CEO of Never Before Italia.

At the conclusion, Vinicio Capossela will give a reading, dedicated to MArTA, from Alessandro Leogrande’s book, Dalle Macerie.
