Venice Academy Galleries, online history lecture series kicks off

Starting Nov. 30, the lecture series Progetto Rialto returns. Lessons from History, curated by theRialto Project Association with the collaboration of the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice.

The online lecture series offers a journey of discovery of the place par excellence of encounter and exchange: the Rialto market, where different traditions, experiences and cultures converge and knowledge fundamental to economic and cultural development is expanded and refined. We will dwell in particular on the material history of the places, the merchant buildings, the geography of trade and bankers, the production of jewelry and textiles, the exchange of precious stones, spices, goods and technical knowledge, in short, the infinite wealth of this cultural and commercial “center.” And above all, an attempt will be made to raise awareness of the role and importance of the insula realtina over the centuries for Venice and its relations with the entire world.

The lectures will be held on the Zoom platform. To register and receive access keys (subject to availability), please write to eventi@progettorialto.org. The lectures will also be broadcast live on the Academy Galleries’ Facebook page and can be reviewed on the museum’s website and on the Rialto Project Association’s YouTube channel.
