A new museum dedicated to Giacometti will soon see the light of day in Paris

Scheduled to open on June 20, 2018, the new museum dedicated to Alberto Giacometti in Montparnasse.

June 20, 2018 will see the birth of a new museum dedicated to Alberto Giacometti: the Giacometti Institute.
The chosen city is Paris, specifically in the Montparnasse district, where the artist lived and carried out part of his artistic career.

Here more than three hundred sculptures, some of them previously unpublished, and a collection of five thousand drawings, lithographs and notebooks never before exhibited to the public will be on display.
Also displayed will be a reconstruction of the Giacometti Studio, preserved in its entirety by the artist’s widow, Annette Giacometti.

Temporary exhibitions will be planned in order to explore various aspects of Giacometti’s art.

The museum will be located in the former studio of interior designer Paul Follot, an Art Deco-style building, and will be directed by Catherine Grenier, head of the Giacometti Foundation since 2014.
