Art deserves more space: the Poldi Pezzoli Museum expands and enriches itself

The Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan has expanded its spaces and added important collections-from clocks to ceramics to porcelain.

The Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan is growing: as of November 24, its exhibition spaces have been expanded and enriched.

Three new rooms connected to the Salone Dorato, the historical heart of the Museum, hold three collections never before presented to the public: an extraordinary collection of person clocks from a significant Milanese private collection-thanks to this acquisition, the Poldi Pezzoli’s collection of clocks becomes one of the most important in the world; a collection of archaeological finds with notable Apulian ceramics from the 4th-3rd centuries B.C.; and among the paintings in the Portrait Gallery are 18th-century European porcelain, including works made in Meissen.

Starting in January 2018, a quarterly review dedicated to the new collections will begin, with planned educational activities for schools and families, in-depth meetings, and aperitifs with guided tours.

Special openings are scheduled on December 7, 8, 26 and January 2, 2018.
