Berlin, fire at Humboldt Forum, at Berlin Castle reconstruction site. One person is injured

A fire broke out at theHumboldt Forum, the large museum that is to open in Berlin Castle, i.e., the monument razed to the ground in 1950 at the behest of the GDR (which saw it as a Prussian military symbol) and which is being rebuilt (scheduled to open this year: the opening is set for September). The fire, which broke out yesterday, was later extinguished by eighty firefighters: in the meantime, however, a worker at the construction site was injured (no word on his condition, however, has been released) when a gas cylinder exploded. An unspecified amount of construction material was also set on fire.

The fire broke out around 10 a.m. and took half an hour to put out, and the resulting cloud of smoke enveloped the facade of the building, construction of which began in 2013.
