Carisbo Foundation is enriched with two new paintings

Fondazione Carisbo has acquired at auction two paintings by Bolognese artists Biagio Pupini and Antonio Beccadelli.

The Fondazione Carisbo was awarded during the Dorotheumauction in Vienna two paintings by Bolognese artists: these are the Mystic Marriage of St. Catherine of Alexandria by Biagio Pupini (Bologna, late 15th century-about 1575) and the Girl tuning a lute executed by Antonio Beccadelli (Bologna, 1718-1803).

The former is an oil on panel painting from about 1530 that reflects Raphaelesque schemes, while the latter is a subject dear to Giuseppe Maria Crespi intended for private collecting, namely a young girl turning the key to tune the instrument, in an allegory of hearing.

Both works therefore are representative of the figurative culture of their time and have now become part of the Foundation’s Art and History Collections.
