European Heritage Awards. Entries open for Europe's highest honor in cultural heritage

Applications open for the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Awards 2021.

Applications are now open for the European Heritage Prize / Europa Nostra Awards 2021.

Considered Europe’s highest recognition in the field of cultural heritage, the annual awards identify and promote best practices in the preservation and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, stimulate cross-border exchange of knowledge across Europe, increase public awareness and appreciation for Europe’s cultural heritage, and encourage further initiatives of excellence through the power of example.

The Awards recognize outstanding conservation projects, innovative research, dedication to heritage by professionals and volunteers, and exceptional outreach, training and educational initiatives. A unique opportunity for architects, craftsmen, heritage experts, professionals, volunteers, public and private institutions, and local communities across Europe to be recognized for their achievements.

Up to thirty heritage projects from across Europe will be awarded in 2021. Of these, up to four winners will receive a Grand Prix with a cash prize of 10,000 euros. An online vote, open to all, conducted by Europa Nostra, will also determine the winner of the Public Choice Award.

Among the nominations submitted, two ILUCIDARE Special Awards will also be given for excellence in heritage-led innovation and international relations.

The European Heritage Awards/ Europa Nostra Awards, which were launched in 2002 and have since been managed by Europa Nostra, are supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program. The ILUCIDARE Special Awards are supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.
