Ahead of the summer, the restyling at Fort Belvedere has begun. With the winter closure, in order to avoid inconveniences during the period of greatest flow of visitors to the Medici complex, the Municipality’s Technical Services Department with its Fine Arts Service has decided to carry out, for the first time, a comprehensive and organic restoration and conservative rehabilitation of all four facades of the Palazzina Medicea, which aims to enhance the architectural features of the building while improving, at the same time, the safety conditions of all external parts of the structure.

“For the first time we are intervening comprehensively on the external facades of the Palazzina during the months when the Forte is closed in order to be able to return one of the most beloved and appreciated places by Florentines in all its splendor to the city with the summer period,” stresses Deputy Mayor Alessia Bettini. " Forte Belvedere will reopen in June, now we are committed to its full enhancement."

“As of today, work is underway on the northern facade, facing the city of Florence,” said Councillor for Public Works Titta Meucci, "but for the first time we will carry out an organic intervention of restoration and conservative rehabilitation of the four facades of the Palazzina Medicea, including the Clock Tower. An intervention carried out with the municipality’s own resources for about 250 thousand euros."
